Your Very First Quilt

Never used a rotary cutter? Still feel unsure when you try to thread your sewing machine? No worries, I’m here to help! In this class, you’ll learn:

  • How to read a quilt pattern

  • Sewing machine basics

  • Measuring & cutting fabric

  • Simple sewing techniques

Start your very first quilt - Annie’s Star (left) or Peace & Patchwork - and gain all the knowledge to finish it with confidence!

Color Fun & Quilt Layouts

When you’re just starting out, fabric can feel both exciting and intimidating. How do you plan a quilt with the chaos of colors and patterns? How do you know what looks good and what doesn’t?

Never fear, Color Fun is here!

In this class, you’ll learn all about fabric choice, color and value, and how to plan your design using Liz’s Pixel Roll Quilt - a beginner friendly quilt pattern designed with 2.5” strips. You’ll get a crash course on color theory, understanding value and how to mix textures. Plus, with some simple instructions, you’ll start your very own Pixel Roll Quilt!

Half-Square Triangle Obsession

Half-square triangles are one of the most important blocks in quilting - simple, yet incredibly versatile. In this class, you’ll learn how to:

  • Sew half-square triangles using multiple methods

  • Plan simple, yet stunning quilt lay outs

  • Play with finished blocks on a design wall

  • Combine HSTs with other easy blocks for exciting results

An Intro to Sewing Curves

If you’ve always wanted to sew curves, but felt too intimidated to try them out, you aren’t alone! I used to be afraid of curves too and spent years avoiding them, thinking I’d never master such a difficult skill. Cut to years later and I’m obsessed - and I want to share that obsession with you!

Join me for an introduction to sewing curves, where I’ll showcase multiple methods to help you find the one that works best for you.

Curves don’t have to be intimidating, so let’s tackle some quarter circle blocks together!

Round Division Quilt Class

Round Division is a simple quilt made up of quarter circle blocks designed with fabric in mind. Originally dreamt up by my mother, Lee Fowler, and rewritten by me 20 years later, this quilt is a blast to plan with all your favorite fabrics.

In the first class, I’ll help you work on planning your quilt and how to buy fabric to suit your dream design. In the subsequent classes, you’ll learn how to fussy cut fabric for unique designs, sew quarter circles with ease, and eventually stitch together a quilt top.

Round Division is a multi-day class that will teach you confidence in quilt planning and simple curved sewing!

Your First Quilt Coat

Quilt coats are everywhere these days and you might be wondering: can I make my own quilt coat, especially if I’ve never sewn my own clothing before?

You better believe it, friends! This class is designed for clothing newbies who have basic sewing skills under their belts, but want to start branching out. You’ll get an in-depth introduction into multiple pattern options, how to pick quilts or coverlets and easy design elements anyone can add. Then you’ll have an in-person sewing class where I’ll teach you all the techniques you’ll need to finish your first quilt coat!

Combine the warmth of a quilt with the brilliance of wearable art for a truly stunning coat you won’t want to take off!

Bag Basics: The Giant Heart Bag

Make a delightful heart-shaped bag and learn the basics of bag making in this one-stop-shop class! The Giant Heart Bag is a straightforward pattern that will teach bag making beginners all the basics they’ll need to know for future bag projects. You’ll learn:

  • Simple quilting skills to create a big impact

  • How to apply interfacing

  • How to create interior pockets

  • Bias binding application
